Our team is comprised of...

Dr. Danny Frank (he/him) is the grandchild of European Jewish immigrants who fled as refugees to North America to escape Nazi persecution. He is the Founder of Peak Perspectives, and has a career in education and non-profit administration spanning more than twenty years. Danny currently serves as the Director of TRIO Student Support Services at the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS), and previously taught Outdoor Education at Northland College and the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD). Additionally, Danny worked as the Orientation Programs and First Year Seminar Coordinator at UMD. Prior to his work in higher education, Danny spent nearly a decade working in residential treatment and wilderness therapy with at-risk youth.

 

Danny has consulted with a variety of organizations on the following topics: effective peer leadership, inclusive leadership in outdoor programs, workplace LGBTQAI+ training, understanding power and privilege, engaging in effective cross-cultural dialogues, and more.  Danny holds his Ed.D. from UMD in Global Indigenous Teaching & Learning, with dissertation research examining Socioecological Education: Faculty Knowledge, Beliefs, and Practice in Post-Secondary Outdoor Education.  His Masters and Bachelors are both from Prescott College (AZ) in Experiential Education and Program Development.  Danny has conducted post-doctoral research on first year student self-efficacy.

Outside of work, Danny enjoys spending time with his family doing pretty much anything in nature, including fishing, canoeing, hiking, skiing/snowboarding, and gathering wild edibles. He is also an avid musician, playing guitar and singing for others whenever possible.

Katrina “Kat” Werchouski (she/her) is a proud member of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe, with ties to the Leech Lake and Lac du Flambeau Ojibwe tribes as well as the state of Jalisco, Mexico. She is a Senior Partner with Peak Perspectives. She currently serves as the Diversity & Inclusion Manager for the American Academy of Neurology. She previously served as the Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and Senior Diversity Officer at the University of Wisconsin - Superior. Before moving to this position in February of 2018, she served as the Director of the Indigenous Cultures Center at Northland College. She earned her B.S. in Environmental Studies (Environmental Public Law and Policy) and B.A. in Native American Studies from Northland College and her M.S. in Environmental Studies (Written Communications) from Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont. She is currently a doctoral student at University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

 

Kat's personal and professional interests intersect in many ways, but most prominently in wanting to educate others about Indigenous cultures, addressing and educating about the challenges and expectations of people from minoritized populations, and strengthening leadership roles through a diversity and inclusion lens. For over ten years, Kat has led a diverse and comprehensive array of workshops, trainings, and presentations on local, regional, and national stages. These workshops are led through a mission of using self-reflection and awareness of one’s own identity to better support others through organizational change and empowerment and challenging conventional ways of thinking. Kat strives to provide spaces where everyone feels safe and welcome to share, learn, and grow from diverse experiences and backgrounds.

 

When she is not doing this, she can be found exploring the beautiful woods and southern shores of Lake Superior, spending time with loved ones, beating Danny at cribbage, and listening to music.

Charles Fai (he/him) grew up in rural Cameroon, and moved to the United States in college. He is a Senior Consultant with Peak Perspectives. Charles believes that a person's race, sex, age, and other characteristics influence the way we see and treat them even when we are genuinely trying to be unbiased. Charles' great passion is bringing awareness on issues regarding diversity, including but not limited to Implicit bias, and developing and implementing concrete steps we can take to help prevent this from happening.

Charles' educational background includes a MA in Counseling Psychology and a B.Ed. in Curriculum Studies and Teaching from Pacific university Oregon and University of Buea, Cameroon West Africa respectively. Currently, he is the State Program Director & Clinical Supervisor at the Minnesota Sex Offender Program-Moose Lake (MSOP-ML). He has a wide range of experience working with a diverse population.

Charles has co-facilitated trainings on implicit bias with public safety and community service personnel involved with the City of Duluth. He previously trained and worked as high school teacher and a lecturer in a teacher training college in his native country of Cameroon. He enjoys a wide range of outdoor activities, coaching soccer, and mentoring youth.
